Academics from the Department of Sociology of Religion Conduct Drug Abuse Education at School

Andi Oktami Dewi Artha Ayu Purnama, M.Si, a lecturer at the Department of Sociology of Religion at IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo, together with her students Desriyanti Abdullah and Parman Kaani, conducted a community service activity at SDN 3 Pulubala, Kab. Gorontalo. The activity was in the form of drug abuse education with the theme “School Shines (Clean from Drugs)” in collaboration with the National Narcotics Agency of Gorontalo Regency (04/3/2023).

During the activity, Andi Oktami delivered a lecture on the dangers of drug abuse and its impact on individuals and society. She also discussed ways to prevent drug abuse, including building positive relationships with family and friends, finding hobbies and interests, and seeking professional help if necessary.

Desriyanti Abdullah, one of the participating students, stated, “This activity has been an eye-opener for me, as I now understand the severe consequences of drug abuse. I hope that our efforts can help create a drug-free and safer environment for the children at SDN 3 Pulubala.”

The activity received positive feedback from the school principal, who expressed gratitude towards Andi Oktami and her team for their dedication to educating the community about the dangers of drug abuse. (AKF)
